The area
It was recognized as a landmark by the Government Gazette in 1994. The building was owned by Papandreou Stavropoulos, Georgios Papandreou’s father and therefore the father’s home of the overlong Prime Minister of Greece. The building will house on the first floor of the “Museum of Political History” – George Papandreou”, which has an extensive collection of personal items and rare documents of the “Old Man of Democracy”, which animate his days. The ground floor will be used for events with thematic tributes of information, promotion of the region, entertainment as well as workshops referring to the country’s newest political history.
The building was owned by Papandreou Stavropoulos, George’s Papandreou father, and therefore the father’s home of the overlong Prime Minister of Greece. It was the point of reference during the visits of George Papandreou. It was a dream of the “Old – Man of Democracy” to be transferred to the former community of Kalentzi. For this reason took place its purchase by the Municipality of Erymanthos. Within the surrounding area of the landed property there is a perennial plane tree, bellow which many meetings of the “Old – Man of Democracy” were held during his visits with his ministers who accompanied him and meetings with residents of the wider region. In the same area, assemblies were held in the past with the presence of the “Old – Man of Democracy”, as well as meetings of the Prefecture Council of Achaia under the presidentship of Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou.
